Hi, I’m Stacey Barber, a Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist helping high-performing professionals recover from burnout, reduce stress, and rebuild careers that feel purposeful and fulfilling.
I’ve always been driven. By 25, I was a manager leading teams and business strategy, a mum, and already used to carrying a lot. My career moved quickly, and with that came pressure, expectations, and a constant drive to prove myself.
If you’re the kind of person who’s always been capable, the one who delivers, fixes, and just gets on with it, I get it. I’ve been where you are. You don’t crumble under pressure, but sometimes you wonder how long you can keep carrying it all.
My dad always told me not to let anyone take the piss out of you. That stuck, and it shaped how I approached life and work. I built firm boundaries, stood my ground, and refused to be walked over.
I also paid attention. I saw what really happens behind the corporate gloss: the sexism, racism, and quiet discrimination that still exist. I saw toxic workplaces, manipulative people, and the way overwork was glorified while wellbeing was ignored.
I’ve watched people climb the ladder without the skills or work ethic, sailing on up while you’re the one carrying the business and picking up the pieces. I saw talented, hard-working people burn out, play small, or lose their confidence completely just to stay safe.
So I worked hard, set my standards high, and achieved, but eventually I realised that strength alone doesn’t equal fulfilment.
At the time, I thought my burnout was entirely self-inflicted, the result of years believing my worth was measured by how much I could take on.
But looking back, I can see there were other layers too: the culture of overwork, toxic workplaces, and the quiet pressure to keep proving yourself no matter how much it costs you.
Add in a neurodivergent brain that thrives on focus, detail, and perfection, which I’ve only come to understand in the last year, and it all makes a lot more sense.
I’ve always had a thirst for knowledge and a fascination with why we think, feel, and behave the way we do.
During COVID, that curiosity led me to train as a life coach, not realising then that it would become the first step on my path to therapy.
A year or so later, I used hypnosis to stop smoking, and that experience completely changed my understanding of the mind. It sent me down a rabbit hole of neuroscience and behaviour, and before I knew it, I was booking my training to become a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist.
That decision changed my life, not because I reinvented myself, but because I finally found a way to bring everything together: my professional experience, my understanding of people, and my passion for meaningful change.
The turning point for me was realising that success isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what matters. That’s what purpose really is: knowing why you do what you do and finding meaning in it.
To me, purpose isn’t about titles or company names, it’s the feeling of alignment that comes from doing work that matters to you. It’s not about who you were ten years ago, but who you are now, and what truly feels right for you today.
I also believe that no job, no title, and no company is ever worth your mental or physical health. I’ve seen too many talented professionals burn themselves out to the core for businesses that would replace them the moment things got tough.
Your wellbeing is not expendable, and everything begins to change when you stop letting things happen to you and start making things happen for you.
Today, I help high-performing professionals, especially women, release themselves from people-pleasing and fawning, rebuild boundaries, and find the confidence to live and work with purpose again.
