For over 20 years, I worked in the city. Good roles, great people, moments of real satisfaction. But something always felt... off.
I know what it’s like to crave more from your career but not know what that 'more' even looks like. To wonder if a new job, a new company, or even a total career switch is the answer. To wake up drained before the workday has even begun.
I hit burnout more than once. Not just from the workload, but from doing tasks I never signed up for—or got paid for. Picking up the slack for those above me who weren’t capable, yet still took the credit. Getting caught in office politics that seemed to create more problems than they solved. Navigating environments where support was scarce, expectations were high, and appreciation was non-existent.
I pushed through exhaustion, hoping things would improve. Spoiler alert: they didn’t. Instead, I found myself running on empty, disconnected from my work, and questioning how much longer I could keep going.
I’ve always been a sponge for knowledge, constantly seeking to understand things on a deeper level. So, long before I trained as a hypnotherapist, I threw myself into learning—courses, books, personal development. I needed answers.
I wanted to know:
• Why do we get stuck in unfulfilling careers?
• How do we break free from burnout and dissatisfaction?
• What really drives us to feel purpose in our work?
Through this constant exploration, I realised something big: Purpose isn’t about waiting for the perfect job. It’s about understanding what truly fuels you and intentionally bringing that into your work.
I started focusing on:

📌 What made a difference to those around me
Instead of forcing myself to fit into roles that drained me, I started aligning my work with what worked for me.
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial streak, constantly exploring new ideas. But I hadn’t found the one thing that truly clicked.
I did all the courses, read all the books, even trained as a life coach. And while it helped, it still wasn’t quite it.
Then COVID happened. And if I needed a final push, that was it. I realised waiting for the "right moment" was pointless. I had to create the change myself.
The real shift? Stopping smoking with hypnosis.
That experience sent me deep into research mode (because of course, I had to understand how and why it worked). Within a year, I was training as a clinical hypnotherapist in solution-focused hypnotherapy.
And that changed everything.
One of the biggest myths I see? Believing you need to quit your job to feel fulfilled. You don’t.
Purpose isn’t a job title—it’s about aligning your work with your strengths, values, and what truly drives you. I’d spent years searching for fulfilment outside of myself, waiting for the "right job" to fix everything. But the more I learned, the clearer it became: It wasn’t about finding a perfect role. It was about understanding what I needed from my work and seeking out opportunities that aligned with that.
For some, purpose means a career change. For others, it's about shifting perspective, adjusting how they work, or advocating for what excites them.
For me, it meant:

Once I had that clarity, everything changed. I stopped job-hopping, stopped feeling frustrated, and started shaping my work to fit me rather than forcing myself into roles that didn’t fit.
And full transparency? I still work in the city while growing my hypnotherapy practice. Because purpose isn’t always about quitting—it’s about realigning.
Everything I’ve learned has led me here.
